Marquee Planning

Is your garden or field suitable for a marquee?

Prepare for a site visit with the right photographs, access details and questions about the space you want to use.

Look beyond the open lawn

A large-looking lawn is a promising starting point, but it does not confirm that a marquee will fit or can be installed there. Arrange a site assessment before committing the rest of your event around a particular position. The team needs to understand the usable area and how the installation will be carried out.

Take wide photographs from several corners, then photograph the route from the road to the proposed site. Include gateways and changes of level. These images help an initial conversation; they do not replace the assessment or the final installation plan.

Share what you know about the land

Tell the team about buried services, drainage features, overhead obstructions and any ground restrictions supplied by the landowner. A site assessment should cover the ground, access, overhead obstructions and known buried services.

Do not assume that a patio, field and lawn can all use the same installation method. Leave the choice of structure and anchoring arrangement to the competent supplier after assessing the site. If you have plans of the property, make them available for that discussion.

Plan the guest experience outside the tent

Walk the journey a guest would make from arrival to the marquee, then to the toilets and collection point. Discuss lighting and accessible movement as part of the whole event plan. A beautiful interior is only one part of a comfortable celebration.

Identify where catering deliveries and other suppliers will go. Agree an arrival order and a person to contact on the day, especially if the property has a shared drive or limited space for vehicles to wait.

Bring a practical brief to the visit

Have your preferred date, approximate guest numbers and outline running order ready. Explain any features you wish to retain, such as a view, planted border or terrace, and tell the team which spaces must remain available to the household or venue.

Our marquee hire service includes planning support. Contact us with the location and your ideas, then use the visit to agree what is feasible before finalising furniture, catering and decoration.

Leave room for the event facilities

Include toilet delivery, catering access and the proposed power supply in the site discussion. The team needs to understand how vehicles reach the installation area and which routes guests will use during the event. Ask the relevant suppliers to agree positions, access and service requirements before other equipment is booked.

Our luxury toilet service and generator hire service can form part of that conversation. Capacity and electrical requirements should be confirmed for your event rather than assumed from a guest count alone.
